This paper identifies a significant deficiency in the literature on the application of the Relative Gain Array (RGA) formalism in the case of singular matrices. Specifically, it is shown that the conventional use of the Moore–Penrose pseudoinverse is inappropriate because it fails to preserve critical properties that can be assumed in the nonsingular case. It is then shown that such properties can be rigorously preserved using an alternative generalized matrix inverse. 相似文献

Research activities concerned with color centers in alkali halide films started recently. The use of versatile, well-assessed, and low-cost fabrication techniques consisting of physical vapor deposition of Lithium Fluoride (LiF) films combined with direct writing lithographic processes allows the realization of miniaturized structures, like broad-band emitters, channel waveguides, optical microcavities and point-light sources emitting in the visible spectral range. Promising results have been obtained in the generation, amplification and waveguiding of visible light in LiF treated by low energy electron beams, where the efficient formation of stable primary and aggregate color centers also induces a local modification of the refractive index. A brief overview of the investigated optical properties is presented together with a short discussion about their perspectives of applications in optoelectronics. 相似文献

The effect of the relative phase (?) between the probe and driving fields on the gain without inversion (GWI) in a Doppler broadened open quasi Λ-type four level atomic system with vacuum induced coherence (VIC) for both co- and counter-propagating probe and driving fields cases is studied. It is shown that: (1) GWI and the probe detuning region in which GWI exists are very sensitive to variation of the relative phase; when values of the other parameters keep unvarying, by adjusting value of ?, the largest GWI can be obtained. (2) The Doppler width (D) also has dramatically modulation role on the phase-dependent GWI. When value of D is smaller, the value of ? which corresponds to the largest value of GWI is about π, when value of D is large enough, it is about π/2. (3) GWI varies periodically with ? varying, the period is 2π, but the concrete variation rule is closely related to value of D. (4) In the co-propagating case we can obtain much larger GWI than that in the counter-propagating case. 相似文献

We present detailed multi-channel experimental characterization of different configurations of single pump hybrid Raman-erbium doped fiber (EDF) amplifiers. The incorporation of an EDF section in a dispersion compensating Raman amplifier is demonstrated to provide superior performance than Raman only system. It is shown that the multi-channel gain spectrum is quite different form the single-channel case. We have also measured the polarization dependent gain (PDG) of the hybrid amplifier configurations and results show that different configurations of hybrid amplifiers have different PDG effects on long-haul optically amplified link. 相似文献

By using SO-FDTD method, radiation properties of microstrip patch antenna covered with an anisotropic dielectric layer and a plasma layer are investigated. Simulation results show that the resonant frequency of antenna covered with a plasma layer varies with different plasma parameters. It has been indicated that the frequency offset of antenna is as high as 120 MHz when plasma frequency changes from 1 GHz to 8 GHz. The effect on antenna covered with an anisotropic dielectric layer is analyzed, while altering the dielectric constant or thickness of dielectric layer. In this article, the construction of P-type germanium (Ge) photon drag detector which is used to characterize the gain and output powers of a 10 W CO2 laser and a CO2 laser amplifier is described. Gain and laser amplifier output power versus laser input power measurements collected at 4.7 mbar and 12.0 mbar amplifier tube pressures are discussed. Moreover, measurements relating the CO2 laser output power to the laser tube discharge current are provided at 6.9 mbar and 7.3 mbar tube pressures. 相似文献
